Incredible antique carnelian intaglio watch fob seal straight from the 1800s. The seal is etched with a design of a warrior. The embossed intaglio is gorgeously set in a deep red-ish amber carnelian stone. Although the stone has some light scratches, it is a charming piece and as i’d like to call it—wearable history.
Could be worn as a pendant or as a charm on a nice chain or necklace stack. The pendant has some beautiful handcrafted detail, etched with a ornate design into a rolled gold. This is a great antique find and makes for a perfect gift for yourself or a special person.
Good antique condition. Gold is slightly faded and fob has a few chips.
A little history: this fine Georgian carnelian intaglio fob seal from the 1800s was usually worn suspended from a pocket watch chain carved with your initials or an official seal, and whenever you needed to officially sign something, you would just press it down on a wax seal and voilá! In certain societies your seal had its own legal status - to lose your seal was far worse than losing your credit cards.
